Battlestar Galactica (2005) DVDMonday 14th of March 2005 From 28th March 2005 the entire first series of the hugely successful television show Battlestar Galactica (2005) gets its world premier release onto DVD – it will be available to own at £49.99. The four-disc set is packaged in a collector’s edition ‘rainbow holographic mirrorboard’ box and includes all 13 episodes and 50 minutes of deleted scenes. Battlestar Galactica (2005) tells the story of the Cylons, androids built by mankind to work and serve them, who rebelled and disappeared into the cosmos. However, they have now returned and are bent on destroying the twelve worlds of their former masters. Commander William Adama (Edwards James Olmos) manages to escape the destruction with a small group of people on board the Battlestar Galactica, and now searches the far reaches of space for the lost colony of man known as Earth. Unfortunately, the Cylons are still in pursuit, determined to wipe out every trace of the human race. Battlestar Galactica 2005 is a complete re-imaging of the 1970’s series using all the action, adventure and drama that made the original so popular, but is edgier and racier than its predecessor. One of the biggest changes, however, was the decision to change one of the central characters, Starbuck, from a man (Dirk Benedict starred in the original television series) to a woman – Katie Sackoff. Battlestar Galactica 2005 also stars Mary McDonnell (Dances with Wolves), James Callis (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Katie Sackhoff (The Education of Max Bixford) and James Bamber (Peak Practice)
