The BBC’s outstanding drama hit of 2006, the quirky and offbeat ‘time travel’ Police thriller LIFE ON MARS is heading to DVD in October. With audiences of around 7 million tuning in every week, this compelling, amusing, exciting drama, starring John Simm as Sam Tyler, a 21st century copper who ‘awakes’ after being run over to find himself suddenly, inexplicably, back in 1973 (or does he?), has won critical acclaim right across the board and is currently in pre-production on its second series. This lavish boxset collects all eight episodes from season one and there’s a generous slate of extras, including a specially-shot sixty-minute ‘Making of’ feature, a thirty minute feature on the show’s production design, a 30 minute interview feature with the show’s music supervisor, as well as commentary tracks for each episode, production designs and easter eggs. LIFE ON MARS was unmissable on TV looks to be pretty unmissable on DVD too.
