By admin • Nov 20th, 2008 • Category: eventsForbidden Planet is pleased to announce three new confirmed signings with three top talents, next week at our London Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London WC2H 8JR.
Monday 24th November 1 – 2pm Art Spiegelman signing Breakdowns.
Thursday 27th November 6 – 7pm Neal Asher signing The Gabble.
Saturday 29th November 1 – 2pm Cory Doctorow signing Little Brother.
Representing the absolute best in contemporary SF, all three of these writers are known for breaking new ground – artistically, creatively and on the web.
Comics-writer Art Spiegelman is best known for the controversial Maus and for the Pulitzer he won for Maus II. Containing a fascinating section on the genesis of Maus, Breakdowns chronicles Art’s nervous breakdown and his experiments with psychedelic drugs. It includes vivid portraits of his artist friends, mentors, girlfriends and the birth of underground comics in the 1960s.
Author Neal Asher is the voice of UK space opera; his Polity series has seen great acclaim and success. The Gabble is a collection of stories showing off such favourites as the gabbleduck and the hooder, allows us to savour alien poisons, the walking dead, the Sea of Death and the putrefactor symbiont. Welcome to a universe of unbridled imagination, each tale a delight in itself!
Cory Doctorow is a Canadian blogger, journalist and SF author who co-edits the massive cult blog boingboing. An activist in favour of liberalising copyright laws and a proponent of Creative Commons, his novel Little Brother is the story of one teenager against the surveillance state – Big Brother is watching you, but who’s watching back? For more news about our signings please go to: http://www.forbiddenplanet.com/Signings.html
