I bought this set of DVD's because I was an avid viewer of the original series. I have not had time yet to look at all of the DVD's but those I've seen are great. I look forward to viewing the remaining films. Incidentally, the set is unbelievably inexpensive and should be on everyone's shelf.

I had all of the star trek movies on video but decided it was time to get them on DVD and i must say that they are well packaged and the picture and sound quality is excellent.
I recommend this box set to all.
Freezing!

I'm mad about Star Trek, so I was gutted to find it froze when watching the Wrath of Khan, had to miss the whole bit where Chekov encounters Khan and gets the nasty little creature in his ear. It skipped to the next chapter OK, so we were able to continue, but then, blow me if it didn't freeze again, right at the very end! Luckily, I've seen it so many times so I know what happened next, but it's so annoying! I must admit, it's put me off buying DVD's off Amazon now.4 more to watch, I hope the rest are OK. The first one was.
A few imperfections, but mostly a decent box set

This Blu Ray release of the first six movies will disappoint people who are after picture-perfection, because while they are HD and the detail is better, original film prints have been used as a source- and this has resulted in some specks of dust and other image imperfections which, if you're looking to buy Blu Ray for superior image quality, may make you unhappy. Only "Wrath Of Khan" and "Undiscovered Country" are really pristine and clean.
Sooner or later Paramount will inevitably be bringing out a Remastered edition of this box set where the picture quality will be even better. I guess the question to buyers is whether you wait or just bite the bullet and buy this. I didn't bother waiting.
I don't like the packaging. The slimcase for each disc is fiddly and fragile. The transparent plastic outer is awkward and the glue on mine was already loose, making the whole thing wonky. I'm not really a stickler for posh packaging but this particular box set is a bit ugly.
The Captain's Summit interview disc is surprisingly good fun and a nice little extra.
This Blu Ray box set is a convenient and cost-effective way to get all six of the original movies. Let's face it, if you've read this far, you're going to buy them all eventually- even "Final Frontier"- so you might as well do it with this box set. That is, unless you're a real stickler for remastered super-clean image quality, in which case wait until they remaster it in a couple of years' time...s

I won't be long winded and harp on about this set,much as I'd like to.Without doubt this is one of the finest collections available.The movie transfers are brilliant as is the sound the movies themselves rate from great to poor ie trek 5 but the world knows that anyway.The extras package is phenomonal each movie has a commentary some multiple ones there is extensive behind the scenes material for each movie with multiple featurettes both modern and vintage.The entertainment value of this set is remarkable and I don't think any review whatever the size could do it justice.At the current price this set represents
exceptional value and an essential part of any fans collection.
