Incredible headphones. Handle Bass like no other
Review date: 2009-11-04 Rating: 10 out of 10
I have to say these headphones are amazing. they lasted me 14 months in south america, travelling about as well as just under a year when i got back to europe.. handle bass so well its simply amazing, cancel out all noise and yeah i replaced em with the cheaper 'Sony MDREx33LPL In-Ear Entry Closed Headphones' and now really regret it. the cheap ones just dont handle the bass the same and yeah im saddened to say i think im going to have to buy these again even though i already have a pair of cheaper ones..

Sony MDR-EX71SLB Fontopia Headphones - Black Reviews
Sony ruin great earphones by changing the cable rubber!
Review date: 2009-09-14 Rating: 2 out of 10
** NOTE - IT LOOKS LIKE THEY MAY HAVE GONE BACK TO THE ORIGINAL LEADS. ORDERED SOME ANYWAY AND HAD A NICE SURPRISE **
I've been using these for around the last 9 years. They were great until, like many people say, Sony changed the durable cables to this incredibly weak rubber composite. I use them every day and they tend to get a little irritating as they want to tangle up a little too. The new cable rubber is simply awful as it does not shield the cables sufficiently. I now have 6 bits of sellotap on my headphones where they have just broken for reasons unknown to me. But the sound is still brilliant! This is a great shame as I'd buy them again without hesitation but, because of this new rubber cable, I'm looking at something else. Nice one, Sony! SERIOUSLY bad design move.
Good sound, awkward headphone lead
Review date: 2009-08-03 Rating: 6 out of 10
I have no complaints about the quality of the sound I get from my MP3 via these headphones. However, there is a real design flaw in the length of the headphone lead. Without the extension, it is much too short for you to listen with your MP3 in your trouser/jeans pocket. With the extension, it is extremely long and gets in the way when you are walking. Also, the weight of the extension connection makes the lead bump up and down when you walk, which reverberates through to the headphones. So I have had to use an old headphone clip, to secure it to my clothing to stop the bumping noise, which is a bit of an annoyance. If you have your MP3 at chest height, then these headphones are a good choice!
....the best by far....

These are by far the best headphones I've ever used. As an ergonomist they have everything; fantastic sound, fantastic fit which blocks out all extraneous noise, and (in contrast to the reviewer below) the cable length is a positive boon if you use your MP3/i-pod at the gym and store your unit in a pocket any distance from your head while exercising. I've just ordered my third pair in nine years. I lost the first pair, the cable came loose in one of the pieces last week, but I got a good four years of use from each. Buy!
Just go buy a different pair of earphones.

I bought these thinking they sounded good and looked good. Soon after they arrived i opened the packaging and tried them out. I plugged them into my computer and was impressed....for about half an hour. The bass is, at first good but soon fades and now I can barely even hear it. The quality is the same as the earphones you might get free with an ipod and they are the most uncomfortable earphones possible. it feels like a lump of sharp plastic is being shoved down you ear and after about 30-30 minutes of using them my ears started to really hurt! none of the earpieces fit my ears but it doesn't matter anyway what size rubber earpiece you use as the plastic bit at the end of the earphone is so large and uncomfortable it just doesn't make a difference what size earpiece you use.
The cable is also INCREDIBLY short and therefore means if you are listening to an iPod/mp3 you can only do so when sitting down. when standing up you had better hope you have a pocket on the front of your shirt as you cant have you mp3 in your pocket as the cable cant reach. But then again i am only 14 years old so if the cable only just reaches a chest pocket for me then if you are older and taller than me then where on earth are you going to put your mp3 when walking around!
