Great gig recorded by Maiden touring on, for what is me, their best album.
This was the first video that Arry edited, so it cuts around a lot between different band members, though not as quickly as later filmed concerts!
The video itself starts with an interesting selection of still photographs. If you want to see Steve Harris in his pants, then this part is a must for you!!
In between the first 2 songs we have footage of icebergs & frozen seas & then before the track The Prisoner, there are some excerpts of the TV series itself. I thought that this was a nice touch, however it doesn't continue & these are the only 2 inserts in the concert footage. The gig itself is well played & well filmed. Sound seems good, though maybe the keyboards (when used) are too high in the mix,and Adrian Smith's guitar seems to get drowned out. The video sleeve notes that this was filmed over 2 gigs on consecutive days at the same venue, but if this video is a mixture of 2 nights footage I can't see where it changes! The bonus with this video, is of course the CD of the same concert that comes with it. However unlike Amazon states, it is the CD version that doesn't have Can I Play With Madness & Hallowed Be Thy Name, as CD's can't hold 85/90 minutes of music!
The video ends with another montage of still photos with Bruce talking to the crowd, this obviously must have happened just before the encores, but the encores themselves are NOT included on the video!! I don't know why,as that doesn't really make much sense, but there you go.
All in all an excellent video, but not available on DVD yet. However my money is on it being re-released along with a documentary about the 7th son album (Like they did recently with Live After Death.)

Of all the Maiden concerts Ive seen, live and on VHS/DVD this is the best. The performances by all the band (and especially Nicko on the drums) are just fantastic. Maiden at their peak! They should re-release this on DVD.
Pure Maiden Gold...

Personally, after watching this video, I would say that it is a great addition to a Maiden collection and a great introduction to anyone who is taking their first steps into the world of Iron Maiden.
The line up certainly stands out with classics such as Wasted Years and Die With Your Boots on being included and the live performance of them is superb in my opinion, especially when Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is played.
Overall, this video is definitely worth a purchase as it showcases Maiden at their best with a solid line up of songs and a stage set that has Maiden's trademark all over it and rivals that of the World Slavery Tour set. The Seventh Son era not only produced one of the finest Maiden albums ever but also a world tour to match.
Five stars.

I actually went to the concert on the Video...
It was at the Birmingham NEC in November (ish) 1988 ....not long after the famous 88 Donnington Bash, filmed over two nights ...
No matter how many times I watch it I still cant see myself (I was at the back ....doh)
Quality....
