Bought this as i loved watching cell block H when i was younger.
I would secretly watch the recordings my mum did when i was younger then rewind the tape (oh the days).
I saw these being released in oz and desperatly looked for downloads but to no joy. Thank god the first 32 episode have been released got them on Saturday and half way through already.
I really hope the next lot dont take to long as i will be having withdrawal symptons. Also i hope the release more than 32 episodes at a time as it could get very expensive and due to credit cruch lol it may take a while to collect the lot.
Bea Smith will always be top dog in my eyes!!!!

Prisoner Cell Block H, the first 32 episodes in a superb box set. I used to try and stay awake and watch this as a kid and loved it then, and love it more now. The outside shots of the prison are often draped in beautiful blue skies and makes me think how nice it must be to live "down under" Inside the prison, however, it was a different story. The main characters in the first 32 episodes are Prison Top Dog Bea Smith, tough tragic lesbo-biker Franky Doyle, chubby loser Doreen Anderson and old-drunken hag Lizzie Birdsworth (brilliantly played by the great, late Sheila Florance) They are offset by Prim and Proper Governor Erica Davidson, goody screw Meg Jackson and the brilliant, acid tongued Vinegar Tits Vera Bennett. This box set also includes the first of several appearances in the show of Noeline Burke, one of the best inmates ever to grace the corridors of Wentworth!! She could sour milk just by sneering "Yeah thats right"
Super acting, excellent and hard hitting story lines makes this box set a must for fans old and new. Here's hoping the rest of the series is released as it would be a shame to miss out on future characters such as Joan "the Freak" Ferguson, Nola McKenzie, Marie Winters, Chrissie Latham and Margo Gaffeney.

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching this all over again but it was so addictive that I ended up watching about 2/3 episodes a night.
Herein lies the problem....I get to the end of episode 32 where Vera is tied up to a chair and Bea goes back to Mum to sort out Mum's grand-daughter....and that was it....finito!!!!
Now already I have withdrawal symptoms and I'm desperate for my fix so what I need to know is when are the rest going to be released and how long will we have to wait in between box sets. One or two a year won't do and at that rate we'll be here forever, so realistically I'm thinking at least 4 a year (once a quarter) but hopefully more than that.
Roll on the next set....and pronto as I'm getting the shakes now!!!
Buy it so we get set 2 and beyond!

Im so glad the UK are finally getting these dvds! However they will only be released on a set by set basis depending on sales of the previous set... so do your bit fans! Although i have the Aus complete Boxset, i will be getting these to! Fantastic series, a welcome edition to dvd especially considering some of the other 70s/80s shows you can get on dvd that weren't half as good or successful!

Finally Prisoner Cell Block H as been released in the UK, Roll on the other volumes. I hope we don't have to wait as long for the other volumes 2-40.
