This is amazing, the first blu-ray movie that i really thought sucked qualitywise. The movie itself is really good and i give the sound 5/5.

Keep the DVD version until a better one is released- yes- they do look the same at the moment.

SAVE YOUR MONEY THE DVD LOOKS THE SAME.
Review date: 2008-10-15 Rating: 4 out of 10

I love this film and i have since it came out years ago. I was looking forward to its release on Blu-ray as the film was shot on a portable HD camera. However i think the picture quality on this Blu-ray is exactly the same as on DVD. (I put this down to this being the style of the film, gritty and raw looking) also the film was a budget film by "movie" standards so i dont think it will ever look better than it did on DVD. There are also no special features on the disc other than those on the Normal DVD release. SAVE YOUR MONEY! YOU REALLY WILL BE DISAPOINTED WITH THE PICTURE QUALITY(regardless of your Television or Blu-ray player.) :(
Still a great film though!

The first Blu-Ray title to to dupe BD buyers - Beware!
Review date: 2008-10-09 Rating: 2 out of 10

I originally bought the DVD release of this movie the day it was released. I'm a huge fan of the movie, rating it very high in my list of great British films from the last 2 decades.

About the Blu-Ray Presentation. DON'T DO IT! Don't buy it - Run away!

As far as I'm aware, this is the first time that a Standard Definition movie has been released on High Definition format. How can this movie possibly be presented in High Definition format, when the film makers intended it to look rough in the first place? It's a well known fact that it was one of the first major films to be shot almost entirely with Digital Video Cameras (the Canon XL1s to be precise). This is not a high definition video camera and so how can a Blu-Ray presentation make any significant improvment in picture quality? - If anything, this version looks WORSE than the DVD version, fuzzy, blurred with noisy compression artefacts. On the good side, the DTS soundtrack is fantastic. I'll be taking my copy back to the shop and demanding my money back. Great movie, but save yourself some money and watch the DVD instead.
