Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Wii)
Meet the Cast The Technology of The Force Unleashed AccessoriesReviewsBuy it second hand Review date: 2008-10-07 Rating: 6 out of 10 There'll be loads of copies of this floating around second hand because it's the easiest game ever to complete so just buy it for £10 ($20) as it's not worth the rrp. The game itself is actually not that bad, yes it's repetitive and annoying in places, yes, the camera is an absolute pain at times but in truth it's actually very playable but way too easy and very, very short. All in all I feel like Lucas has yet again left me disappointed and ripped off but I guess I'm getting used to the feeling. A missed opportunity Review date: 2008-10-07 Rating: 6 out of 10 I bought and played the Wii version of the game and I have to admit I was hooked to it. The game play is great fun - especially if you become disciplined enough to learn the combo's to use your force powers. Intelligent use of your surroundings makes the fighting easier and far more believable that you are a Jedi Master. There was nothing better than walking across a bridge with 5 or 6 enemies running toward me, deflecting theit pitiful shots deftly with my saber then simply picking them up with the force one by one and throwing them over the edge! Unfortunately there is a big BUT! 1. I cn understand their not putting in a 1:1 use of the wiimote to light saber. I think in this game it would be nigh on impossible to accurately do all the fighting without simply flailing. But we all thought it was coming and now we feel let down! Let's hope the clone wars game addresses this. 2. There is no imagination on the levels you simply keep going back to the same levels over and over again but taking a slightly different route through them. A Star Wars game without Hoth!!! Unheard of! 3. It's too short. I don't do replying games just to find some bonuses I missed the first time round. 4. It's too easy! I didn't die at all until the very last level and that was because I walked off a bridge... something you couldn't do on any of the other levels. 5. Fighting the bosses was annoying. I have no problem with a boss being easy if you're skillful. You just give the boss more energy so it takes longer and make his strikes more powerful so you pay for mistakes. But being simply unable to fight cos you're constantly being knocked over, running to a health bonus hitting them once then being constantly knocked over again is just annoying. I'm a Jedi - I don't run! This needed some RPG input to give us a feeling of more control of the game. Why they didn't learn from the success of Knights of the Old Republic et al... This game does have some great points. I enjoyed playing it through once, but mines already gone to the second hand shop after only 10 hours of play. What a shame! Under 6 Hours of Gameplay Review date: 2008-10-07 Rating: 4 out of 10 I don't have much to add to what's been said already. This game is OK- poor camera control, average graphics, a lack of the promised lightsabre control with the Wiimote, linear storytelling... all of these have been discussed at length. I finished the main game, in no particular rush, in 5 hours and 45 minutes. Surely that alone is enough to convince you that this is one to pick up second hand (if at all). Pretty Good - But It's not what you may think Review date: 2008-10-06 Rating: 8 out of 10 Before people say anything else, I will say, this is a damn good game. For the Wii, the graphics is good. The Force Powers work well, and i mean well, who would have thought throwing stormtroopers could be so much fun? The Lightsaber fighting works well, and duel mode is good fun. Imagine Tekken, but full 3D arenas you can run around, amazing force powers, good selection of characters and plenty of things to throw. There's also the ability to be become "Unleashed" which really hypes up your force powers and allows you to pick up massive things with the force (like a full TIE fighter on the TIE Construction Yard arena) or smash down the walls (On the Jedi Temple Arena). HOWEVER, if you want next-gen graphics and the new powerful game engines, this is not the game you want. With the exception of tactics, the NPC's show no sign of intelligance. Glass may crack in the correct way, but it doesn't truely break. Trees don't chop like trees, and many things aren't interractive. So, overall, it's good, but don't buy it if you want the next gen graphics. It's a waste of money if you do.
