Very funny Vicar of Dibley
Review date: 2009-01-06 Rating: 10 out of 10
Absolutely amazing! So funny, can't stop watching it. Also, look at the extras on the third disc, it includes the comic relief specials. Classic British comedy at it's best.

The Vicar of Dibley Is A Gentle Classic
Review date: 2009-01-04 Rating: 10 out of 10
I bought this set last year, and watched it over the Christmas.
I wasn't a huge fan of the show when it was on tv, but I did enjoy watching the odd episode here or there. So, it was a nice treat to watch the show from start to finish in chronological order.
What struck me as I watched was just how enjoyable the show is despite not being a total laugh out loud fest every minute. It's a real cosy sort of show... one you can slip on an episode of to lighten up a hard day with.
This is a real gentle sort of comedy, its never too rude, the language is never too coarse, the characters are all quite close-knit and loveable despite their flaws... there is a real sense of community at the heart of dibley despite how much the characters all rib and poke fun of each other, you really feel they care for each other.
It is indeed a very well written show and the characters are all so loveable: The lusty Geraldine, the dippy Alice, the equally dippy Hugo, the crafty Mrs. Cropley, loveable bore Frank, David Horton and his smug superiority, lusty old jim
This is definitely a show that will stand the test of time... like a lot of the old BBC greats... it is sorely missed now on tv... some of the shows that pass as comedy nowadays are painfully unfunny and lack any likeable characters.
My personal favourites from this collection are:
The hilarious Christmas Lunch incident... 4 christmas dinners in 1 day!
The episode where the church window is broken and needs replacing and the animal church service..
Dibley Live... the one where dibley gets its own radio station .. and frank makes an announcement that few hear...
And of course, the vicar in white is a great send-off, a lovely finale where Geraldine's dreams finally come true... a satisfying happy ending.
Every episode is on this set, plus the documentary of the Story of Dibley with behind the scenes chats with the cast.... Even if you were a light and infrequent viewer of the show like me, this is great set to kick back and relax with....
I am a very Happy Bunny

I purchased this earlier today in Woolworths for £20, reduced from £40. Thought I had a bargain until I just saw that Amazon sell it cheaper, but as it's not in stock, I shall simply pat myself on the back and tell myself 'well done'.
I have watched epiosode after episode on UKGold tv, read the books, and now the proud owner of the best box set ever (in my opinion). Simply cannot wait to watch every episode over and over again.
Laughter to commence......

Forgive me, for I joined the congregation late!
Review date: 2008-11-16 Rating: 10 out of 10
I came late, but I am now an ardent Dibley disciple. Dawn French is delightful as the chocolate devouring, incurably romantic, caring and careworn Vicar. She attends to a tiny community of brilliantly barmy and quite certifiable characters, including her fabulously gerbel-brained verger Alice Tinker.
The scripts are crammed with deliciously fruity exchanges between the characters, showing off first-rate ensemble acting and many set pieces of virtuoso silliness. Particularly great is Roger Lloyd Pack, who glows with pungent pride as a farmer with better-left-unseen tendencies, and who develops an insatiable lust for Geraldine (the lovely lusty Vicar).
This entire series is a comedic marvel. So get the chocolate in and enjoy some brilliant TV. To Dawn and the crew: Forgive me for I have sinned in joining the congregation late, but I'm saying my Hail Dibleys!
