Amazon.co.uk Review

Horror series Supernatural delivers some of the most satisfying small-screen scares in recent memory. The premise is deceptively simple: brothers Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki from Gilmore Girls and Jensen Ackles) travel the darker corners of the American landscape in search of their father, who's gone missing while hunting the malevolent forces that lead to the death of their mother. In the course of their search, the siblings encounter a host of otherworldly creatures, including vampires, ghosts and witches, as well as such distinctly American phenomena as the urban-legend favourite the Hook, monsters from Native American mythology and fearful figures from well-known children's games. Supernatural's integration of elements from American pop culture and folklore, combined with its skilled cast and crew (creator/co-writer Erik Kripke delivered 2005's Boogeyman, while director/executive producer David Nutter is a veteran of The X-Files and Millennium), and better-than-average attempts at atmosphere and suspense place the series well above the other spookshow programs that arrived on TV screens at about the same time (Invasion, Night Stalker), and should hold considerable appeal for fans of frightful fare. The six-disc set contains all episodes of the second season, with commentaries, making-of documentaries, a brace of unaired scenes and a gag reel completing the set. --Paul Gaita

A very good series , if you thought series 1 was potent, this is a lot better. A great show as now itv is showing series 3 and not really following it as i will wait for to come out on dvd. Amazing i never really liked these type of programmes, to those who don't like this type of tv give it a try and you may never know.

As like most people i couldnt wait to see what season 2 would bring after the success of season 1. I must say that season 2 is even better than season 1 if thats possible!! This is definitley a must see and buy! A few of the best episodes to name: Simon Said, Playthings,Hollywood Babylon, Folsom Prison Blues, well all of them really!. bring on season 3 i say!

One To Watch
Review date: 2008-01-20 Rating: 10 out of 10

If you're a fan of anything supernatural, scary or just a bit 'strange', then this is the show for you. The leads are well cast, both playing off each other perfectly, most of the time with humour, but when it's needed with incredible sensitivity.

The best example of this is the episode 'Heart' which sees the boys tackle the problem of werewolves, and how to cure a person of lycanthropy. If you only watch one episode, watch this one - But make sure the lights are down, and you won't be embarassed to shed a tear! For something lighter, try 'Tall Tales' or 'Folsom Prison Blues'.

One good thing about the Season 2 box set is that is has all the extra features on - In the season one (UK version) these were left out, but they're firmly in place this time round, just to confirm for those wondering :)

With Season 3 starting next Sunday, you should have enough time to watch it all to either catch up or refresh your memory before it starts up again. Definatly worth the money!

Just keeps getting better!

What a fantastic series! I cant wait until Series 3 begins.
As always Jared and Jensen put in a brilliant performance, and the writers keep you on your toes through each episode.
With regards to the box set I will say I was disappointed that there werent more features (come on WB- sort it out!).
Oh, and if you were going mad trying to figure out why the 'Making of' feature for All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2 is missing, just go onto the Devils Road Map and select number 22! Dont get too excited though its only about 10 minutes long!
