Hallelujah - we have winchesters - and ***** extras *****
Review date: 2007-09-14 Rating: 10 out of 10

The dvd's arrived today - and shock of all shocks - there are extras - see moaning pays off.

As always great episodes and there will be a third series (campaigning pays off again).

Extras include a "gags reel" and two episode commentaries - would have like more stuff than that but somethings better than nothing

The second half of supernatural's second season comes to dvd, with eleven episodes spread over three discs. For the uninitiated: sam and dean winchester are brothers. strait laced and bad boy. They travel america hunting down supernatural creatures, whilst all the time on a lookout for the yellow eyed demon who killed their mother. And who seems to have plans for sam.

The strengths of this show are that whilst there's a story arc, it usually bubbles away in the background whilst there's always a self contained story each week, and the chemistry between the two brothers, who are both played by superb actors.

If you've not seen it before start with season one, as that way you'll get more out of it. the show is now at the top of it's game and delivers week in week out. There's good variety to the episodes, and they even manage a comedy one, in the hilarious tall tales.

Unlike previous volumes this set has extras. A gag reel, two commentaries [alas not involving cast members just production staff] a screen test, a map of where the brothers have been over the course of the show, and a few documentaries. The one about the production of the season finale is a bit hidden. see a review further down which reveals where to find it. I've given a helpful vote to that reviewer as a result.

A great show. and a great package. although be aware that a complete season box is out next month. It'll probably be the two half seasons ones just joined together, but it might be a bit cheaper

Yay!!!

I love this show and think that some of the strongest moments come in this box set.
Tall tales is amazing for comedy, Heart for a bit of a cry and then the season finale...just brilliant.
The only weak episode to me was Roadkill but even that was still pretty good. The in jokes in Hollywood Babylon are genius and I loved Nightshifter.
As always, the male leads are fantastic especially in the comedy moments.
I was watching Smallville the other night and just realised that Jensen Ackles has a much deeper voice when playing Dean. Weird. Anyway, I have seen all the episodes but still look forward to the DVD turning up so I can enjoy the extras.

Some of the best episodes so far

Loved the second half of the season- especially Tall Tails and What was and what should never be and of course the series final, All Hell breaks loose. I think Jensen Ackles' (Dean) acting is amazing and he really delievers and is able to bring such emotion to the show. Jared Padalecki (sam) has really grown into his role as sam.
Also, this season dvd, we get to have special features! Including commentries and bloopers.
The only thing i would say was that the behind the scnes documentry on All Hell breaks loose part 2 is kind of hidden and to get to it, you will have to go onto the devils map thing and find 22- i thought it was weird to be hidden like this!
Anyway, Love the show, love the boys and love Supernatural!!

Awesome

Season 2, of this amazing show, lets you explore more fully the characters of Sam and Dean. There are a few laugh out loud moments in Episodes like 'Tall Tales' - but the whole series is a rollercoaster and the 2 part season finale 'All Hell Breaks Loose' is its destination. The way the series ends just takes your breath away. It ties up a lot of loose ends, but leaves you with other questions that you just as desperately want to find answers for.

If Season 3 is anything like this - I can't wait.

If you have yet to be introduced to this show - well - what are you waiting for?
