Star Trek - Deep Space Nine - Series 3 (Slimline Edition)
Cast members seemed to have hit their stride and played off one another more assuredly than before. For example, Odo's character took several additional interesting twists, especially in his relationship with Kira. Rene Auberjonois had a very good year, directing two episodes to boot. Avery Brooks had begun this trend with the previous year's penultimate show. The real surprise was seeing Jonathan Frakes's name working behind the camera on three occasions, because he also appeared on screen in his alternate rogue Riker role, when Thomas dramatically steals the Defiant. Other welcome cameos that aided the feeling of casual camaraderie included the return of Lwaxana Troi, as well as first appearances by Quark's mother, the spooky Founder Leader, the lovely Leeta, and the sneaky Eddington. Clint Howard--a cult Trek figure--was briefly welcomed back, and with the many faces of Jeffrey Combs another was born. Stories advanced the complicated Bajoran/Cardassian healing process, while simultaneously brewing potential conflicts far worse than the behind-the-scenes ratings war. --Paul Tonks ReviewsGlad I own it Review date: 2007-10-21 Rating: 10 out of 10 Season 3 of d9 produced memorable episodes and has quite a lot of episodes involving Garak, which I find always make the episode at least interesting. Episodes like Second Skin and Civil Defense are possibly some of my favourite ds9 episodes. Civil Defense apparently was a nightmare to make with the technical problems they had to get around. Prophet Motive was almsot my favourite Ferengi episode becuase of how interesting it was to Zek as the most generous person around. An episode ODO directed, lol. Du Kat does not feature much in this season, only about 2 episodes and theres no Weyoun, but near the end of the season, theres a very nice 2 episodes interlinked "Improbable cause" and "The Die is Cast" where the Romulan and Cardassian inteligence services join forces and Garak nearly being killed by his own hand but without trying to fully kill himself.(Dont want to spoil too much) Special Features on season 3 are "The Birth of the Dominion" "Micahel Westmores Aliens - Season 3 "Time Travel files" - "Past Tense" "Crew Dossier" of ODO "Sailing through the stars" and "USS DEFIANT". There is also subtitles in various languges on all discs and voice over non english languges. There is also semi hidden files of extra bits n pieces of interviews called section 31 hidden files which are only found by cliking on the green lights and pressing play on the station map. These hidden files are on all seasons. They did it again. Review date: 2007-07-27 Rating: 10 out of 10 This is another excellent series. The Star Trek team did it again. This series has some of my favourite episodes. The 'Past Tense' episodes are brilliant. I really enjoyed watching this series and although I still feel it's a warm up for the next series, it still has some excellent character developments with Kira, Odo, Sisko and the rest of the crew. I recommend buying this series and I will be watching this box set over and over again.
