Five stars...but...
Review date: 2008-05-26 Rating: 10 out of 10

I loved the Charmed Franchise the entire way through so was saddened at how it came to an end.

The new character introduced (Billy) is annoying... as is her sister once she is found. Also the fact that she comes into her powers so quickly and is a match for the Charmed Ones cheapens the idea that the sisters are a special power. I think the Billy character was only introduced with the hope of providing a spin-off series, but her popularity (or lack of) put a stop to that idea.

The final episodes however are well done. It's nice to get to see (most of) the family re-united, and we also get glimpses of the future of the Charmed line.

One thing that annoyed me about the Series 8 DVD specifically was that the theme music was different. Perhaps licensing issues?... I don't see any other reason to replace the perfectly good and well-known theme tune that is used on all 7 other series' DVDs. Shame.

All good things must come to an end.

It has to be said, Charmed is a unique television series. In spite of a definite "girly" feel in its contents and themes it is nonetheless an entertaining piece of television and something that my girlfriend and I have watched since its incept. By the admission of its creators it can be silly and has not won any awards, though it is still a delightful thing to watch. Series 8 has a lot to achieve, with there having been a big cliffhanger at the end of series 7 as well as the fact that it was intended to be the final series. This it manages to do quite well, on top of introducing an interesting new character in the form of Billie.

The show manages to contain the usual demon fighting as well as settle a lot of character points that have teased viewers for several series at least. Not the least of which included finding Phoebe and Paige husbands and tying up a lot of the loose ends that would haunt frequent viewers by the ending of a long running television series. In some ways this can seem a little bit rushed, however it is not done sloppily and can be forgiven very easily. The final episode is a very comfortable and uncomplicated one, not really and edge of your seat finale but more of a summery of sorts of the series and seems to bring in every major character that has ever appeared in the show. In many ways it is a gentle ending to a charming (no pun intended) show and they understandably didn't want to upset people.

In many ways it is very sad to think that this will complete Charmed, but at the same time it is good that the show realised that there was a time for it to bow out before it runs into the dark territory of endlessly persisting until it gets cancelled. It is a shame to see it go, though I think they would have been hard pressed to come up with a better series to end it with.

season 8 has something for the little witch in all of us! I love the charmed seasons and i think that they did them selves justice, even if the ending wasn't what everyone was hoping for i think all chamred fans would say it was a good send of.

I would definatly reccoment getting this as it is still as funny and sad as the rest and the SFX are just as good. It might seem to drag in the middle but it definatly picks up and has you on the edge of your seat, well sometimes!

We miss Charmed but wish all the actors/actresses the best for the future!

charmed manages to finish on a high in its best season
Review date: 2007-08-17 Rating: 10 out of 10

season1-3 were an awful way to start the show and didnt garner a huge fanbase like it needed...season 4 and 5 were both very good got higher ratings and are very good seasons but didnt quite make the show how it should be...season 6 and 7 were really bad seasons and should have had the ability to lure more people in but unfortunately lost more.
season 8 is where the show finally hit its stride and was unfortunately its final season.
this is a trualy great season of the show and due to its low budget its able to make good storylines and stick to the basic storytelling level and actually ended on a explosive and high note with some of the greatest episodes ever this makes it the greatest season of the show.

Engaged and confused*-5/5-stunning!joining vaya con leos as being the greatest episode and garners second place, shows off Alyssa(Phoebe)and brings out her character more.

Kill Billie vol.2*-5/5-Explosive
Forever Charmed*-5/5-the best way to end the show.

finally im glad that Phoebe(my fave sister) gets decent storylines this season and doesnt get stupid transformations and provides great comedic value, also Rose fleshes out Paige with her acting this year and had me liking her a lot more through this season, and after critisising Hollys acting i found that Piper had more use this year and became a more likeable character,Leos episodes were well spent on him and he was missed for a bit but the episodes wre so good i almost forgot about him,Darryl was missed this year and it was a shame he didnt make a one off appearence.

all in all season 8 had a back to basics feel to it that certainly made it the best season of the show.

buy.
