DVD Description

The Shadow War has ended, leaving hundreds of civilisations devastated by the conflict. It is up to the ISA, with the help of the Rangers, to rebuild what the great war destroyed and to maintain peace among the worlds of the ISA. The Legend of the Rangers pilot movie deals with the Ranger crew of the Liandra, a semi-organic ship based on Minbari technology. The Rangers encounter a previously unknown alien race, called the Hand, whose lethal power is far greater than any force previously known to Earth or any other world in the Interstellar Alliance. The Legend Of The Rangers is a movie spin off from the hugely popular Babylon 5 series.

Good - but not that good
Review date: 2008-07-28 Rating: 6 out of 10

I confess I acquired this film largely because I wanted a complete set. While it's something of a departure from the series itself some of the core values remain, and it was nice to see G'Kar featuring as a kind of elder statesman. Was it worth watching? Yes. Will I watch it again, often or at all? Possibly not.

What have they done???
Review date: 2008-06-26 Rating: 2 out of 10

Cant write much about this movie. Its bad, I mean really bad. Im a bit of a Babylon 5 fan but this movie is poberbly one of the worst sci-fi films that I have seen in 10 years. Its shockingly bad. No good points to mention. Even if you are a big fan of B5, providing you have at least some taste, this movie will leave you extremely dissapointed. Acting, story, script, production is very poor. Its just a cheap in every respects.

Brat-y-lon 5 :: Legend of the US Rangers - YIHA!
Review date: 2008-01-16 Rating: 2 out of 10

Sad comeback for Babylon 5, even worse than Crusade in my mind.
Bad acting, bad script/story, bad special effect, and yes American brats playing Rangers in a hollow and non descriptive fashion. In Valen's name: Do not buy this DVD!

Star 5...no, Babylon Trek .... er, something like that
Review date: 2007-11-26 Rating: 6 out of 10

What on Earth was going through JMS's mind when he came up with this one? It's watchable, and G'Kar is a real treat (although far too little of him). But essentially, this is sub-Trek and not at all worthy. I shan't be rushing to watch it for a second time.

Would have been good to be pursued...

...yes, the characters we're not quite as lively as we can remember G'Kar or Londo... Delean and all the other B5 characters including those passing by as Eric as the Techno-Mage and all the others... yet, I truely thought this Legend of the Rangers had an excellent potential for development if pursued a bit longer and given at least a season! Compared to a lot of sci-fi films the level was still supreme. The design of this starship was fascinating and impressed even me as someone who was always more interested in the storytelling and the fate, twists and turns of those B5 rather then technical finesse... the characters would have evolved I am sure especially with writers like Stracincsky... well perhaps somebody out there is hearing the voices of all those Sci-Fi explorers and will answer it with an excellent transmission of storytelling and venturing out to the stars and remembering that there is more to life???
