Biker Boyz - the "z" says it all...
Review date: 2007-01-26 Rating: 2 out of 10

This has to be one of the worst films I've ever had the displeasure of being forced to watch. It bears no connection to real-life bikers or biking, and is rather a film about two black street gangs, with Japanese motorbikes being included simply so they can pretend this is a biker's film. Trust me - it isn't. The "music" in this film is absolutely awful, being typical modern chart rap/hip-hop; the acting is appalling, there is no real plot, every minute is utterly dull and boring, and there are far too many utterly fake biking moments for this film to have an ounce of realism to it. This film is an insult not only to bikers, but also to true black culture. As a result, I personally despise this film and feel certain that the majority of other people will hate it too.

An appalling film. Avoid!

Waste of time
Review date: 2004-01-08 Rating: 2 out of 10

If you're a biker steer well clear, this movie will only annoy you thanks to its unrealistic portrayal of motorcycles. Bikes racing with their speedometers showing 180mph when you can clearly tell they are doing no more than fortyish. However if you are a gullible person who has no idea about motorcycles and has a few pounds burning a hole in his or her pocket go ahead, i'm sure you will enjoy the movie, for it will show bikers to be what you already knew, dangerous, anitsocial and bad actors, happy in this knowledge you will then go shopping in your beige Volvo Estate

Totally laughable
Review date: 2003-12-12 Rating: 2 out of 10

I kept watching this in the hope that the story-line and "action" would pick up... I might of well have turned it off. If you're looking for some serious bike tricks then buy a Superbike video, want some good acting? Don't get this.
For the storyline read the prev revues - you'll get the idea. Personally, most of the riding scenes were laughable - try sitting up on a bike doing 140mph+ and you'll see what I mean! I was also impressed at their stopping prowess from 180mph!!! Wish my bike had brakes like that (especially on a dirt track!).
All I can say is, Hollywood definately has a strange view of Bikers - I feel sorry for the proper Yank Jap bike brigade...

"The Need For Speed"
Review date: 2003-11-11 Rating: 6 out of 10

Firstly this film will, and should, only interest bikers. If you are not a biker, you will not get it.

Yes the plot and some of the characters are a bit thin, and transparent, but that's not the point. In the same way as "The Fast & The Furious" will only be truly enjoyed by nitro-blasting Japanese car drivers, this escapist tale of urban heroes racing their bikes means it is a film for a particular corner of the population. My view is that it never tries to be a popular groundbreaking fairy tale of a film, it just aims itself between the eyes of fellow bikers, and in that respect it is on target. The film does have atmosphere, some truly corny lines, and some excellent cinematography. Laurence Fishburne and crew play fairly well, surrounded by Hip-Hop playing, beer drinking urban anti-heroes while Kid Rock portrays the stereo-typical image of the grungy, greasy, chopper riding dropout.

However the true stars are the bikes. If you fancy seeing a tricked-up Busa, or stoppies and wheelies on Gixa's and R1's and some pretty hair-raising stunts, some even genuine then buy this. If not then go and watch Driving Miss Daisy.

Very poor
Review date: 2003-11-10 Rating: 2 out of 10

As a 29 year old British biker I found this film unrealistic and lacking on real biker appeal. Do not buy this film if you want to see wheelies, stoppies and loads of cool stuff. Do buy this film if you want to see a lot of black steet culture/music with a twist of how not to look cool on your bike.
