Amazon.co.uk Review

The third season of Seth MacFarlane's Family Guy finds television's most dysfunctional cartoon family even more animated than usual. As MacFarlane himself noted, he was inspired to go for broke, thinking that the series--already juggled like a hot potato in the US TV schedules (at one point, it aired opposite the mighty Friends)--had been cancelled. Just as This Is Spinal Tap walked the fine line between "clever and stupid", so Family Guy gleefully mocks the line between "edgy and offensive".

Like The Simpsons, Family Guy lends itself to multiple viewings to catch each densely packed episode's way-inside "one-percenter" gags (so-called by the creators because that is the percentage of the audience who will get them), scattershot pop-culture references, surreal leaps and gratuitous pot shots at everyone from, predictably, Oprah, Kevin Costner and Bill Cosby to, unpredictably, Rita Rudner. Also like its Springfield counterpart, this series benefits from a great ensemble voice cast, with surprising contributions from a no-less-stellar roster of guest stars. --Donald Liebenson

Unfamily friendly fun

Lets be honest here...if you're reading this then you already know who family guy are and what characters are in it. So I won't go in depth through every character.

This DVD is good for many reasons but mainly because the episodes are amazingly funny and you will play them to death until they are more funny then they were to begin with. One problem I'm bothered with though is the obvious flashbacks that although most of the time are hilarious,if it's constant over and over it just starts to get slightly boring...what? You don't care? I know Iknow.

Out of all the discs I would have to say my favourite would have to be Disc 2 which has some of my favourite episodes called (INSERT NAME)...okay I forgot the name is that a crime?

..............................................Sorry I'm really really tired...just buy the DVD if you like family guy.

Best season yet

This is an unbelievably brilliant series of Family Guy. At this stage the show had become very popular but it had also become extremely offensive, so it is not a good show for over-sensitive people. All the characters in the show are funny and the jokes are brilliant. This is basically an almost perfect series of Family Guy, but disc three is the worst disc in the series, its still good though. I strongly reccomend this dvd to any comedy fan.

the best yet

I am working my way through the family guy anthology at the moment so season 4 is next for me,what i will say about season 3 is that it is more inventive, surreal and funny than the first two series so my hopes for season 4 and 5 are pretty high now.
Season 3 has it all,21 episodes, which is alot more than the first two seasons produced and the characterisation here, although minimal on some levels is still advanced enough for appreciation to deepen further.Family guy is a strange show on some levels, the surreal excerpts thrown in at will sometimes dont make sense, the writers have commented on this but yet that takes nothing away from the show, the use of pop culture and society references all heighten the shows shackle on everything, elements that are taboo are also part for the course but again dont take away from the show when seen in the context of family guy.
Family guy, like the simpsons seldom follows straight line but likes to return to a normality by the end,of course references to the simpsons can hardly be avoided but family guy is more satrical and certainly more adult in content even if the jokes arent as consistent but with the 21 episodes featured in series 3 there is much to be admired from stewies world domination being foiled by bill cosby to peter growing a beard and nesting a family of birds in it ,to meg becoming sick when she kisses a geek in front of the world.lois losing her mind, brian becoming addicted to cocaine while being a police sniffer dog and chris finding a love in deep south america.
There is certainly much to admire about season 3 and there is even a sentimental moment that almost defies what family guy is about when brian who is a dog, falls in love with an elderly woman and when she is about to die gives her a virtual reality helmet on her deathbed and brian puts it on as well and in that they live together and get married and have kids which are half dog and half human and then the old lady dies happy that she found her mr right as well,it is a nice moment readers, aside from that you get the usual non p.c moments and with the supporting cast all delivering when their time arises this is the series which highlights that this show should move out of the shadows.

If you like outrageous you will like this

Short and simple its hilarious!!! What makes family guy good it covers a lot of different sense of humors. It dosent just stick to one. This is a brilliant comedy i recomend it. I think it is the best out of the five.
If you have whatched family guy before this is a must buy but i would recomend watching an episode before you buy it may offend you, There is some offensive stuff.
