Peak Practice - The Complete First Series [1993]
ReviewsBring out the rest of the series on dvd Review date: 2004-12-28 Rating: 10 out of 10 This was a fantastic series and who knows why it was ever axed. It is great to be able to get the series on dvd though unfortunately only two of the twelve series have ever been released - itv - release the rest! Watching the series, you see a lot of actors who have become very big in the uk tv and film industry and started out on Peak Practice. Highlight of the series are the excellent Amanda Burton, Kevin Whately and Simon Shepherd. Peak Practice - Well Acted, Well Written Review date: 2004-03-07 Rating: 8 out of 10 When Peak Practice first started appearing on Australian TV, I was pleasantly surprised at the high standard of each episode, no doubt thanks largely to Series Creator,Lucy Gannon, who wrote about life in a town in picturesque Derbyshire about real people in real lives, facing the same problems and joys that most of us can relate to. Added to this came Kevin Whatley & Amanda Burton as Drs Jack Keruse and Beth Glover, plus an excellent supporting cast, and your have the ideal recipe for success.Amongst this cast were veteran actors Sylvia Sims,Margery Mason and Maurice Denham and their contibutions cannot be underestimated Apart from helping patients, doing house calls (I don't know any GP in Melbourne who would even KNOW what one of those was!)including going to isolated farms, Beth and Jack and their partner Will have to find a way of ensuring the long term survival of the practice, which deals with medical funding issues and (I assume) the ramifications of changes to the British Health scheme brought in by the Thatcher government. The chemistry between Jack and Beth is fraught with passion, vunerability, a battle of wills which ensues over the way the practice should be run, and also professional respect, plus a desire from both at different times to be independant. Woven into this is Peak Practice, the practice once owned by Beth's father, and a genuine desire by the two main partners to act with decency and with a dedication to their patients and their principles that always seems in the end to re-unite them. A wonderful series which has made me impatient for the release of the next two series, graced as they are by the presence of both Kevin Whatley and Amanda Burton. The first of the best 10yrs!! Review date: 2003-12-25 Rating: 10 out of 10 Welcome to the world of Peak Practice! For those of you not fortunate enough to know about it....where have you been!! Peak Practice was set in the fictional village of Cardale, Derbyshire. The series is based around the doctors and patient's at The Beeches surgery, where you will find our three doctors; Beth, Will and Jack. As the newcomer Jack has a lot to learn about village life, normally learning the hard way! Many medical issues are raised which effect both doctors and familes in different ways, but leave you informed and entertained. This series, and hopefully following series, are a must buy for anyone who loves beautiful scenery, great storylines, and 'on and off' relationships of which Beth and Jack provide plenty! Great viewing....enjoy!
