An excellent overview of a wonderful career!

I have long admired David Miller's work in Shivers magazine and so was delighted to find that he had written a book about Peter Cushing. The book is beautifully written and thoroughly researched and packed with very interesting pictures. A highlight is the foreword by Veronica Carlson. The only problem with this book is the rather vague cover.

Lovingly crafted and clearly written guide to all things Cushing. Only one book exceeds this volume in quality anecdotes, that being "Past Forgetting" by the man himself. Due to its excellent presentation the Companion can serve as an introduction to this beloved actor, with plenty of information on his life and non-horror related roles. For those who are familiar with Cushings work, Miller adds something new and interesting to each period of Cushings life and performances through clearly cross referenced research. It does somewhat over empahasise Mr Cushings extreme "saintliness" and was obviously written out of great admiration and respect for its subject matter but this is not really a criticism. If you have any interest in Peter Cushing even only in passing this book can only enrich your appreciation. I recommend it. But I am as biased as Mr Miller it's author.
