Guitar books are great these day's but finding one that suits your level is not easy and nothing is worse than opening your Amazon package and after a few minutes you find it's either too easy or just too damm hard and you can't live with it. Anyway on to the book, you get about 20 solos 4 rock, 4 blues ,4 heavy metal ,3 country and 5 various bonus styles. The accompaning cd is in the Track double up format 1 with lead and 1 with out which is great. There are no slow speeds for the taxing bits but you can use your Windows media player to slow it down if you need to if you have a pc that is.There are of course no lessons in this book just a small section on music explantion etc.You will need to know a bit about the famous Minor Pentatonic scale's 5 patterns and how moving it down 3 frets turns it in to a Major Pentatonic (now thats magic !), you may get away with putting your fingers where the tab tell's you to but you will learn nothing that way.I think its important to understand and realise why and where whats being played.Top shredders need not apply stay away and go straight to the Troy Stetina stuff this book would be too easy for you but just right for us intermediates on the long hard road of becoming a lead Guitarist many of whom give up along the way.
I am half way through and loving every minute of it i cannot put my axe down .Lead Guitar Solos is just one of many great books in the Progressive series (koala publications) of which i think are the best of the bunch and learnt the most from so check them out and make a note of their guitar authors Brett Duncan,Gary Turner and Peter Geiling and choose you book wisely.
