Not bad at all but why ultron? he is a lame bad guy.
Review date: 2008-06-04 Rating: 8 out of 10
That said the threat needed to be big and known to suit the purposes of the story. Ultron is handled well despite being a weak villain and overused in the past.
The new avengers squad is interesting and the way they are choosen is well thought out. Ares is a great addition to the line up, having some great lines and filling a vital role in the team.
The art is very good but not spectacular, unless you like letching at the sexy laadies frank cho draws so well. The highlight is the script, bendis makes great use of thought bubbles, a tool rarely used in comics these days.

High and Mighty?
Review date: 2008-04-27 Rating: 10 out of 10
Thor. Hulk. Scarlet Witch. Captain America. Legendary Avengers in their own right, and part of THE perennial Marvel Super-Team.
How times change. Hulk exiled, Thor missing, Captain America dead, with Iron Man the victor of the Civil War.
Which segues into the debut of all new, government sanctioned Avengers line-up; the Mighty Avengers.
A mixed roster - Iron Man, Ms Marvel, controversial character Sentry, Wonderman, Black Widow, Wasp, and of course, the anti-hero type, war God Ares.
With a new spin on the classic Avengers format, it is only fair to revamp a classic Avengers villain, in this case it is Ultron who gets the "new and improved" shtick.
This series of comics (Issues 1-6) was horribly delayed, and as a result, an arc that occurs in the space of several hours comic time, took the best part of 6 months to play itself out. The series lost many fans as a result.
As a hardback novel, collecting the arc, it reads exquisitely - a veritable roller coaster tour de force, with utterly sumptuous artwork by Frank Cho, and Bendis's usual flair for internal/external monologue segues.
This isn't the old Avengers, or even the New Avengers, this is Iron Man's dream team, and one really does get that first day at school feel with the characters as they awkwardly try to work together and gel in time to stop the monstrous Ultron from completing its task.
All in all, a great read (finally!), with superb artwork, interesting and significant character development with wider reaching consequences across the Marvel Universe, and an ideal place to begin the run up to Marvel's premier 2008 event; the Secret Invasion.
