A neat idea and it works
Review date: 2008-06-17 Rating: 8 out of 10

Hulk has got to be difficult to write, the very nature of the character is great but potentially limited. Many writers have tried to redefine hulk of give him more or less intelligence, seperate him from Banner etc. Some work to a degree others fail miserably. The idea of blasting hulk into space was genius, get him away from the core marvel universe and let rip with a story that suits the character. It isn't an original story it isn't even deep but it does entertain. The only let down is the art which while not awful it isn't always clear whats happening in a panel.

The Greatest Ever Graphic Novel?
Review date: 2007-08-01 Rating: 10 out of 10

Every once in a while a series of comics comes along where everything just comes together, with the artwork and the writing both of exceptional quality that it deserves to be made into a 'Hardcover' presentation, and 'Planet Hulk' deserves this and more. I have to say first of all that it is best if you read the small graphic novel 'Prelude to Planet Hulk' beforehand just to help with the build up to this amazing piece of work.
The story begins when a group of 'Superheroes' who call themselves 'The Illuminati' decide that 'The Incredible Hulk' is too much of a danger to the human race, and his rampages are putting too many lives a risk. They devise a plan to send him into space to an uninhabited planet where he can be alone and hurt no one, but things don't go as planned. I will mention nothing else about the story simply because it would spoil it for you.
Greg Pak who wrote this epic has to be the greatest comic writer find of the last five years, and the superb artists who put his words into pictures have created a stunning visual treat that will simply amaze you.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough, it is a comic masterpiece that will be talked about for years to come, and the best thing of all is that the story is still going on this summer with 'Marvel's' 'World War Hulk' storyline!!!!

Hulk smash!
Review date: 2007-07-18 Rating: 10 out of 10

Sent to an uninhabited world by the 'heros' of earth, the hulks ship crash lands on an alien gladiator planet by accident. This leads to 15 isuues of Hulk based mayhem and carnage, the writing by Greg Pak is superb, as are the illustrations. I could not fault this Marvel hardback and could not put it down. I highly recommend to all fans of the 'Jolly Green Giant.'
