DEAD good!!!!
Review date: 2008-12-10 Rating: 10 out of 10

This book does not get good enough credit, although some people find this guide lacking in certain aspects I find it does not. The guide helps you complete the game but to a degree where it does not take all the suprise out of the game.
This is a must for all dead rising fans.

Dead Rising is the best game ever for a zombie fan and with this book you can see just how much there is to do. In order to rescue all the people (which i still cant do there to many i think) you need this book for not all will be told to you by the guy on the phone.

Bad publicity for game guides

This was the 1st game guide I bought, ever. I did because I pre-ordered the game, long, long, before it went on sale, and when the reviews come up thay stated the game was very hard, and had some particulaties that one should be carefull , or would risk to put the game aside in no time.
Big mistake!! The guide is almost completly useless. It has some begginer mistakes that one start to think if the author really played the game. For instance, before the 1st boss the author tells to not use the only hand gun at all, because it would be very necessary to the this boss encounter, he forgot to mention that the character that fights by your side (Brad) gives you the any ammo/gun you need. This is just an example, things keep going this way. Forgets to mention the best gun in the game (as a matter a fact I think he didn't notice it...) - the mini-chainsaw, points the gamers towards the most difficult options available, a mess...
About the particularities of the game (namely the save system), there's a tiny, tiny paragraph, in pitch 4 hid between some glossy images, wich the book is fertile.
It serves as an advertising pamphlet of the game, because aesthetically it's very "colorfull", but it has no value beyond that, and that was not the reason I bought it.
I ended enjoying the game very much, but because I gave up consulting this.

Ok for a beginner, but lacks depth for a pro.

Having read reviewers descriptions of Dead Rising, on various websites and in a few XBOX360 magazines, I decided to purchase this guide. Most reviews state that the game has a lot of replay value as there is a lot to uncover and a lot of things to find. I figured that a guide would help me get the most out of the game after I had had an unaided run through myself.

I was sadly mistaken. This guide is extremely poor. On the one hand it does have a lot of glossy images of the bad guys etc, and it does have a large map of the mall. However the guide does not indicate any of the objects, weapons, health and alike, on the maps, rather "letting the player find all things for themselves".

The guide also glosses over much of the detail about how to find any easter eggs or unlockables within the game. A lot of the strategies for defeating the in game pychos are about as detailed as most people can figure out for themselves, i.e. kill the bad guy, with a gun, before he kills you. however the guide gives little more information about where to get a gun or how to kill the bad guy if you dont have a gun.

Whilst I dont like being spoon fed through games, in fact I dont usually buy guide books, save for games that have a lot of hidden stuff (I am talking about your GTA's, R. Evils and alike). I think that most people who are looking for a guide to this game will be lookng for a set of detailed maps with legends. Sadly this guide doesnt have that.

Ok for the beginner, but not for the seasoned survival horror gamer.
