My Space Martha
Martha Jones, played by Freema Agyeman, has started a weekly blog on MySpace.
Conceived and managed for the BBC by Force 10, the digital division of award-winning PR agency Taylor Herring, the blog is being written by Joseph Lidster, writer of serveral of the Big Finish Doctor Who Audio Dramas, and will re-visit and re-tell each episode from Martha’s own private point of view. As the series progresses, readers will be given exclusive snippets of extra information about the show’s characters, as well as learning more about Martha’s growing feelings for The Doctor. With unprecedented access to her innermost hopes and dreams, as well as her darkest fears, fans will get to see a whole new side to the character of Martha, and even learn more about The Doctor himself.
MySpace is currently ranked the fifth most popular website in the world, with over 100 million registered profiles, and has been credited with launching the careers of successful music artists such as The Arctic Monkeys and Lily Allen.
Matt Park, Online PR Manager for Force 10, says: “Our brief was to introduce the new companion, Martha Jones, and engage younger fans, so a MySpace blog is the perfect way to bring the character to life in a believable and intriguing way. The response from the fans has already been overwhelmingly positive”.
The blog can be found at www.myspace.com/marthajonesuk, and is updated weekly, following each Saturday’s episode.
